Writers on the River 2016

A couple years ago, while my friend and author, Jillian Jacobs were having lunch at a restaurants near our hometown she says to me, "I think that with so many conferences in all the big cities, what I'd really like to see is one in some place like southern IL."

I blinked my eyes a few times because...really? Central and Southern IL didn't seem like a hopping place to be. The more I listened to Jillian, the more I realized that her ideas are almost never without a good and valid point-this one no exception.

"So, LaNora, if I can to get this book conference off the floor would you be willing to be in?"

"Absoluely! No hesitation!" I answered.

Well, that idea not only got off the ground floor, it soared into the stars.

The event was called Writers of the River and it took place in Peoria, IL Ninety authors came from miles around and one came down from Canada to be part of this magnificent event. Not only did I meet many fabulous and friendly authors and author assistants, I also met awesome and exciting readers!.

The event was such a huge success that it's already a full house for 2017.
