Author Spotlight Interview
Today, I’d like to introduce you to an author I’ve gotten to know over the last couple of years and someone I think you’ll want to put on your list of Authors to Watch. She has a new book releasing on April 30, 2016 that is filled with sharp twists and turns that is guaranteed to keep you mentally charged. Her name is Lisa Caviness and her book is “Order of Fear”. She is my interview spot light this week.

Hi LaNora! I’m thrilled to be here.
We’re excited that you are taking time out of your busy schedule getting ready for the big release to be here, so the pleasure is all ours.
You’re about to burst onto the scenes with your new book and I’m so excited for readers to know what it’s all about. What kind of book is “Order of Fear” and what is the premise of the story?
Order of Fear is a romantic suspense novel. Marissa Nash, ballet dancer turned accountant, has decided to call off her wedding after discovering her fiancé’s philandering ways. Dr. Justin Tanner is the best man and suffers from PTSD after his medical unit in Iraq is attacked. Justin also has feelings for Marissa but has buried them since she is involved with his best friend. The action starts when Marissa returns from a business trip to find her fiancé, David, dead. After Marissa survives several attacks, she and Justin begin to unravel David’s selfish deeds placing them on a collision course with The Order, an evil organization led by a wicked, vengeful woman. Marissa and Justin must grapple with their growing feelings as time ticks down to a fiery climax.
This book certainly sounds like it’s filled with lots of actions and suspense. What was your motivation to write this book?
I’ve always loved reading mysteries and thrillers. Several years ago this book started with a thought about an emerald ring and grew from there. My motivation stemmed from a simple what if question. What if a woman’s fiancé retrieved damaging, confidential information about a mysterious and evil organization with an emerald as its symbol? The idea hooked me and my imagination took off. As the story evolved the emerald ring became one of seven other tokens important to members of The Order.
So, kind of like a treasure hunt of seven other tokens, I’m wondering? Do you have plans to write other books and have you started it?
Order of Fear is book one of the Order Series. I have started Book Two, Order of Malice. Book Three, Order of Rage has been roughly plotted. I’m so excited about these books! I also have four more series ideas I’m looking forward to developing.

Order of Fear
The sticky sensation of his blood coated her hands. This wasn’t supposed to happen. She’d been ready to tell David she couldn’t marry him. Maybe they could have worked through their problems, or maybe they could have parted as friends, but now they’d never get a chance. Anger and preoccupation would no longer alienate them. The easy humor and quick laugh that had been absent in recent weeks would never return.
Halo stood next to her, his warm fur plastered against her damp arm.
Surrounded by blood, she glanced at one wall of the kitchen. Her stomach roiled as she studied the brain matter splattered on the wall like abstract art. She stared at the wall, once tan in color, but now stained a ghastly shade of red.
Marissa blinked several times, hoping to erase the sick scene, but the reality remained. David was dead.
The last few weeks she’d been embroiled in romantic, tranquil colors. Soft peach hued roses. Elegant gray candles. Delicate swirls of ruffled silver icing on a too-pretty-to-eat wedding cake. A snowy white wedding dress.
Now her world was blood red.

We all know that fulfilling one’s dream toward becoming a published author isn’t an easy task, but if you could offer advice, what would it be?
Remain persistent, take advantage of as many learning opportunities as possible, develop relationships with other authors, and write, write, write. For me, having a book published, is a monumental feat. I firmly believe, as a writer, the learning never stops. It’s my goal to create interesting characters, thoughtful stories, and suspenseful plots that will keep readers coming back.

Author Biography
As a lifelong reader of an eclectic pool of books from mystery/thrillers, science fiction, contemporary romance, and the classics, Lisa Caviness has never been without a book on the nightstand and a long to be read list. Like many writers, she started crafting stories as a child. However as an adult, creativity took a back seat to her career in pharmaceutical and medical device research. In 2013, Lisa decided to get serious about writing and joined Romance Writers of America (Crossroads Romance Writers, Indiana RWA, and Kiss of Death Chapters) and later Sisters in Crime (Speed City Chapter). The education she has received proved invaluable but more importantly the support from fellow writers has enriched her in thrilling and unexpected ways.
