Romnce Weekly

This week's question, really lets you into our heads when working with questions and I have to say that I feel a little bit odd about it. However, in the spirit of fun and getting to know me, here are the questions we've been asked to give answers too. So here goes:

1. How much free reign do you give your characters during a story? I don't give them a lot of free reign. Because I usually have a well thought out plot (at least, in the beginning,) I do a somewhat detailed "loose" outline of the story before I start to write it. I used to let the characters do what they thought was best next but I found that I didn't like the surprises that happened afterwards. I wrote a novella a couple years ago with a good twin/bad twin set up and I let the twins have free reign and my twins started flipping roles on me and it freaked me out.

2. Have your characters ever done something so out of the blue that not only changed your story, but changed the tone and maybe even the genre you were originally going for? (Like your contemporary romance turned into a spicy paranormal) Hmmm...let me think. Nope.

3. Do you have one character in your head that is sort of boss over all the rest? Or do you decide who to work on and when? I'm kind of a control freak when it comes to deciding who gets a story next. I usually have a few ideas for a story or series playing in my head at the same time and they have to go through a vying for my attention stage before I pick them.

I think these questions showed myself and my friends just how anal I can be I think. Be sure to see how my friend Veronica Forand http://veronicaforand.com/ can be in her answers and I wonder if we're similar or far apart in how we tackle our characters.
