Halloween is just around the corner and my friends and I are going to tell you a very short spooky story.

Sometimes the best ghost stories are the ones you experience for yourself.

One night, I heard a ghost train, filled with people, laughter, talking and music. It was one of those moments when all you could do is lay there and try to process what you think you're hearing. Knowing that you can't possibly be hearing what you're hearing, but there it is.

This ghost train roared by outside, at 2 a.m. a few miles from my house. The biggest red flag was that there were no commuter train tracks nearby. So as I lay there, I glanced over at my husband who's sleeping and my children who are still sleeping and feel lucky that the kids aren't waking up giving me one more thing to fret over.

In addition to the train, there are about 50 dogs (or more) all barking at the same time. Some are barking, some are howling but they are all doing this AT THE SAME TIME. Very odd for suburbia America at 2 am because most dog owners allow their pets to sleep indoors at night.

At this point, I'm pretty sure they were ghost dogs, too.

What I'm not at all sure about is the reason why this was happening?

No way, was I going to get out of bed, and pad downstairs to investigate this oddness so I laid there listening until the train passes by and the dogs barking subsided and the summer night turned still again.

Don't forget to hop on over to my pal's blog to read her ghost story at
